The German Army used a “H.U.” marking (“Heeresunterkunft,” Army Quarters) as a property marking before and during WWII. These kinds of marks were applied on a wide range of items, from blankets and hand towels to furniture. The block with “H.U.” and the eagle were normally applied as separate parts. Countless variations existed. Here are some different variants I have copied from originals.
Please note that the “H.U.” block measures the same for each variant, about 1-5/8″ long.
-Large size, eagle measures about 4-1/4″ long. $44 for this stamp as two pieces of rubber or $55 for the two stamps mounted on simple wood blocks.
-Medium size, eagle measures about 3″ long. $30 for this stamp as two pieces of rubber or $40 for the two stamps mounted on simple wood blocks.
-Small size, eagle measures about 1-5/8″ long. $20 for this stamp as two pieces of rubber or $30 for the two stamps mounted on simple wood blocks.
-Prewar type without swastika, one piece, about 1-5/8″ high. $20 for just the rubber or $25 mounted on a simple wood block.
These are made of real rubber and can be used with permanent ink or paint, and cleaned with alcohol or mineral spirits.
