This Soldbuch was carried through more than five years of war. The stitched repair to the binding is not unusual on examples like these that show a lot of wear and use.
This book has a couple of typed inserts, probably added right at the end of the war. One of them lists all of the personal property items in Hahl’s possession. In addition to typical items like a wallet for letters and a fountain pen, he had a pillow and slippers, as well as his own personal set of eating utensils.
There are also two completely handwritten insert pages. One is for soap issue, and the other is for immunizations.
